Children's Ensembles

Brio

Training level program providing a foundation for choral and vocal instruction for children ages 7-8. Children receive an introduction to basic choral singing and perform two to three times a year in combination with the next level choir. Rehearsals: Mondays, 4:00-5:15 PM,  Conductor - Diane Geller

 

Arioso

Children, ages 9-14, (un-changed voices) learn music reading skills through singing activities that teach them to read rhythms, use solfege (do, re, mi, fa, sol, la, ti, do) for accurate aural and vocal pitch production, learn musical terms, and study musical forms in a fun, supportive environment. Performances are planned for two to three times a year including experiences with the Center Chorale at the Center for the Arts, Escondido. Rehearsals: Mondays, 4:00-5:15 PM,  Conductor - Dana Stanford

 

Coro Vivo (Depending on registrations)

This program will provide boys and girls ages 12-18 with an opportunity to learn vocal training, music theory and part-singing. They will sing both classical and contemporary music written by master composers. Performing in a variety of styles from folk music to Mozart, the students will grow in a choral setting to be respected as young artists and perform with professional musicians. Performances are planned for at least two to three times a year at the Center for the Arts, Escondido, as well as possible community venues. Rehearsals: Mondays, 5:15-6:30 PM, CCAE Studio One. 

Registration

Membership is not open, at this time, due to the Covid 19 virus. We hope to begin as soon as it is safe to do so. Thank you for your interest. Membership in the Escondido Choral Arts Children's Program is available to children ages 7-14.  Singers must be committed to being a part of the organization by attending all rehearsals and performances. Singers will learn valuable musical and life skills by participating in sharing their music with each other, as well as, their community.

Registration: $110 per school year per child. A multiple sibling discount of $10 per sibling can be applied.  Fees must be paid by the start of the second rehearsal.  A separate fee will be needed for concert dress to be determined. Payment may be made by cash, check or credit card information included on the registration form. Scholarships are available.

Auditions will be informal and consist of vocalization by an instructor, determination of skill levels for reading, following directions, musical knowledge, and willingness to learn. Nothing needs to be prepared for the audition and they will take place the first day of the season during the regular rehearsal.

Signup for the Chorus by filling out the Registration and Photo Release form in Downloads below. Please note any request for scholarship on the registration form. After filling it out, please save it to your computer in order to e-mail or print and bring to rehearsal. The forms may be e-mailed to dstanford@escondidochoralarts.com to reserve your singer's place. Please print the Guidelines, also attached below, for more information. At this time, please do not send payment information by email. Instead, plan to bring on the first day of rehearsal. Payment may be made with cash, check, or credit card.

Rehearsal Schedule

The Center Children’s Chorus, an Education Program of the California Center for the Arts, Escondido invites children and youth to join the chorus! Registration Open through the month of September.

The Chorus rehearses every Monday at the Center for the Arts, Escondido. Singers rehearse in a new location: The Center for the Arts Conference Center, the Escondido Room and the Felicita Room. Students are introduced to the Kodaly method of music education using sequential units of study that, in addition to music skills, develops self-discipline, teamwork, and love for music.

Regular Rehearsals on Mondays:
