Dear Friends,

Stanford said of the coming performance:  “This great masterwork, although one of the most performed pieces since the 18th Century, has become a traditional part of the holiday season. I like to come to it as though it is fresh and new, giving our best energy to make it come to life.  Our soloists are among the finest in San Diego County.  You will delight in hearing the baritone’s Refiners Fire, and the soprano’s Rejoice Greatly, both exhilarating and uplifting pieces of music.

Messiah has been dear to me since my early years of study at Baylor University. We performed Handel’s masterwork each year with full orchestra, but I never dreamed in those years that I would have the opportunity and joy of coming back to this great work.”

The Center Children's Chorus

Sing and Be Inspired

The Center Children’s and Youth Chorus, at the Center for the Arts, Escondido, provides opportunities to learn about music in a friendly and fun environment.  Musical literacy and participation in the art of choral singing with their peers, as well as in combination with the Center Chorale are goals of this children's chorus. We perform several times during our season in many different venues in our community including the beautiful California Center for the Arts concert hall and performance theatre.

From the Artistic Director-
Dr. Joe Stanford

Dedicating ourselves to music that is Art brings us together. Think about the analogy of standing before one of the European Cathedral stained glass windows. We look up at the beautiful colors that fall on us, we admire the craftsmanship, we acknowledge the message or subject of the work, and we are awestruck by its beauty and the inner peace that we experience. Music is like that—it doesn’t matter who we are or what we believe, but the Art itself brings us together and says more than the human word can express or dogma can define. A favorite quote of mine is by T.S. Eliot: "Music heard so deeply that it is not heard at all, but you are the music while the music lasts".
